Boat slips by season and size

Seasonal slips

Uncovered seasonal space comes in two sizes, 10×16 and 12×20, and the covered seasonal option measures 12×35. Seasonal space works for people who only boat in the warmer half of the year and winter the boat at home. Overall, seasonal boat slips outnumber the annual ones.

Annual slips

Annual covered slips run from 10×30 to 22×80, and annual uncovered slips from 10×70 to 22×80. An annual boat slip keeps your boat at the lake year round.

Covered boat slips or open water

Covered boat slips keep sun and rain off the boat, which helps upholstery and canvas last longer. Uncovered slips cost less and suit boats that already have a good cover, or owners who are out often. A wet slip of either kind means no trailer and no ramp line on a busy weekend.

Barren River Lake water level through the year

Barren River Lake is a Corps of Engineers flood control lake, so the Barren River Lake water level changes with the seasons. The Corps lowers the lake in the fall and winter to make room for spring rain, then raises it again for summer. Ramps and shallow coves can look very different between January and July. Keeping your boat in a slip at the marina takes most of the worry out of that cycle, and the staff can tell you what to expect at your slip through the year.

Choosing the right boat slip

Start with your boat’s length and beam, then add a margin for fenders and lines. Think about how often you will come out and whether you want the boat here over winter. If you want a roof, ask about covered space first.

With those answers, the team can match you to a boat slip that fits. They know which spots are open now and which may come free later in the season.

How to ask about space

Openings shift through the season, so we answer requests one by one. Fill in the form on this page with the boat length, beam and slip type, or phone 270-646-2357. A member of our team will get back to you to go through availability and next steps.

Life as a slip holder in the park

Keeping a boat inside a state resort park has a few quiet benefits. The surroundings are well kept, the drive in is through woods rather than traffic, and the park’s lodge, campground and trails are there when friends and family visit. Many slip holders treat the boat as one part of a longer weekend at the lake rather than the whole of it.

Slip holders often pair storage with fuel and supplies from the marina store and fuel dock, and some bring guests back for a day in one of our rental boats.

Slip holders and the rental fleet

Because the marina also runs a rental fleet, slip holders share the docks with day visitors in summer. The staff keep rental traffic organized, and slip holders often find it handy to have extra boats available when family visits and one boat is not enough.

Winter and the off season

The marina closes to the public from mid October to mid April. Annual slip holders should talk with the team before the season ends about winter plans for their boat, including covers, lines and how often to check on it during the colder months.
